Unreal Arena: Work

Unreal Arena Paper Map Version 1

The original paper map of "Unreal Arena". This idea was scraped for a few reasons: First, it was way too big when in development. Second, some of the placements didn't make sense to me after I really looked at it. For instance, the middle area (meant to be elevated as displayed by the shading), why would the player go up there when there's nothing rewarding? Everything the player needs can be found on ground level. Finally, the design isn't functional. The player could just stay on the high ground the whole time and defend it. Not to mention if a sniper rifle was included in the game, then the player would have a huge advantage with this open high ground area. Therefore, I started anew with a different level idea.

Unreal Arena Paper Map Version 2

The second version of the paper map for "Unreal Arena", drawn over the "Lighting Only" version of the map. My goal for this level was to keep everything relatively simple and functional for easy navigation. The layout for the pickups was designed around the idea of "fairness" so that if this map was available for multiplayer, then players wouldn't have any advantages over one another.
